ANGER MANAGEMENT
Anger is a normal, healthy emotion however, it can become problematic if an individual finds it difficult to keep it under control. This can lead to issues at work, in your personal relationships and has the ability to affect your overall quality of life. At Victoria Line Official, we provide practical support to help our clients manage their emotions in a more constructive manner.
BEREAVEMENT
Losing someone close to you is one of the saddest and most painful experiences you can go through. It may feel as though the rug has been pulled from under you, and it can be a struggle imagine what life will be like without your loved one.
Initially, family and friends will rally round to support you. But as time passes there’s often the expectation to “get over it”. Yet grief has no timetable. Your bereavement is unique to you and will last as long as it needs to.
Our bereavement counsellors are specialists in bereavement and loss. They can provide empathic support through the four stages of grief, offering a nurturing and caring environment to help you talk about your feelings and offer ways of coping with your loss.
DEPRESSION
Depression is a very common issue, with 1 in 6 people experiencing it at some point in their life. Counselling for depression is one of the most common reasons for attending therapy
We Provide services for the following but not limited to: Single Depressive episodes, Recurrent Depressive episodes, Dysthymia, Cyclothymia.
DOMESTIC ABUSE
Domestic violence or abuse, includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse between couples, relationships or family members.
No one should have to live in fear of abuse. Domestic Violence Counselling is a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space where you can begin to explore what is going on, what has happened and how you feel about it. Importantly, it is a space to be heard and believed.
MARRIAGE
Marriage/ Couples therapy is designed, like individual therapy, to provide a safe and confidential space to explore challenges and to move beyond these to a healthier state of relationship. A couples therapist will ask questions to get to know you better and try to see that you both have a chance to talk and resolve any underlying issues that may be impacting your relationship.
PTSD & TRAUMA
Following traumatic events you are likely to experience a range of unfamiliar psychological, emotional, and physical reactions. Different people exposed to the same trauma may respond in different ways. You may find it difficult to collect your thoughts and handle your feelings. We aim to give you an idea of ways in which people often react and encourage you to understand and handle your thoughts and feelings constructively.
SELF ESTEEM
If you have low self-esteem you may feel that you are worthless and not good enough at anything that you do. You may tend to blame yourself for things you have no control over, which can lead to you being bullied or taken advantage of by others.
At Victoria Line, we can help you build confidence and self-esteem. We will help you identify any unhealthy patterns that might be maintaining your low self-worth, and help you create new ways to feel confident.
SELF HARM
When a person injures their own body on purpose, it’s known as self-harm or self-injury. These self-inflicted injuries can be minor or more serious. Self-harm or self-injury is sometimes called “non-suicidal self-injury” (NSSI) because it’s not an attempt to commit suicide. In general, it develops as a way of coping with difficult situations or painful thoughts and feelings. Some experts view eating disorders and substance abuse as particular forms of self-harm. We aim to offer a listening ear and supportively suggest ways to understand and treat this disorder.
STRESS
Stress is a completely normal human emotion and manageable amounts of stress can even be motivational at times. Too much stress however, can cause prolonged stress and be damaging to your mental and physical well-being. Work stress, relationship stress, family problems, and financial issues can all contribute to unhealthy amounts of stress, which may result in unhealthy habits.
Counselling with Victoria Line can help you address the causes, symptoms and management of your stressors, so that you can lead a mentally, physically healthier and happier life.
